Citroën is a French automobile brand founded in March 1919 by Andre Citroën. The Stelliantis Group [4] has owned Citroën since 2021, purchasing the brand from PSA Group (Peugeot).
Citroën’s reputation has always been for innovative technology. This was established in 1934 with the world's mass-produced front-wheel car, the Traction Avant fr (“front traction”), with approximately 760,000 units [1] produced between 1934 and 1957. It’s the classic French car you see in many black-and-white movies
Amongst other technological developments attributed to Citroën is the high-pressure hydraulic system, self-levelling the car regardless of passengers and cargo. This was secretly worked on under occupation during the second world war and successfully used from 1954 onwards on Citroën’s DS, SM, GS, CX, BX, XM, Xantia, C5, and C6 ranges of cars.[2]
This iconic Citroën air-cooled, front-engine, front-wheel drive economy family car was first introduced in 1948, ending production in1990. Selling over 9 million variants [3] worldwide, it was a firm favourite with the rural French people. It was inexpensive to purchase, so it also became cool and chic with young people around Europe.
Citroen today, in the 21st century, draws on its 100 years of history to produce affordable vehicles whilst pushing the boundaries of creativity and wholly embracing moving towards the electric future.
An excellent example is the new Ami, a 100% electric City car; it’s basic motoring for the non-conformist. Ultra-compact, light, and airy, and will fully charge on a type 2 connector in 3* Hours, with a range of 46 miles* and a top speed of 28mph, it’s ideal for a City commute.
Ë-C4 Electric, the latest in ten generations of compact hatchbacks, is fully Electric and will give you a range of 219 miles* on a single full charge, 10-80% charge time on a 50kw rapid charge (188miles) 47 min*.
Inside the Ë-C4, you can enjoy Citroën’s advanced comfort suspension system and unique contemporary seating. There are 4 trim levels to choose from, each with a wealth of standard features.
The new plug-in range of hybrids from Citroen includes the CX5, a combination of an elegant saloon, practical estate, and the elevated driving position of an SUV.
Citroën CX5X plug-in hybrid is ideal for day-to-day journeys. In the electric mode, it offers 180 bhp from the petrol engine and 81 kilowatts from the electric motor, and both seamlessly combine to deliver a combined power of 225bhp*.
Four driving modes are available, electric, hybrid, comfort, and sport; in the full electric mode, a range of 31 miles* can be achieved, ideal when entering low-emission zones.
The CX5 also benefits from the Citroën “Magic Carpet” Advanced Comfort Suspension™, a modernised version of the original hydraulic self-levelling system.
Citroën C5 Aircross is a modern ultra-comfortable large SUV; you can choose from plug-in hybrid petrol or diesel powertrains. The three trim levels for the petrol and diesel versions Sense Plus, Shine and Shine Plus and Shine and Shine Plus trims are available with petrol, diesel, or plug-in hybrid.
C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid comes with an 80-kW electric motor and 180 BHP petrol engine using the EAT8 electronic gearbox, giving you a power output of 225 BHP and a full electric range of 34 miles* on a full charge.
The Interior has 3 full-size rear seats and benefits from the Advanced Comfort Suspension.
Citroen C3 is a compact 5dr hatchback and colourful city car that replaced the Citroen Saxo in April 2002, and it’s currently in its third generation. Available in 4 trim levels and two engine and gearbox choices.
The USP for the C3 is that it offers a unique customisation choice of 97 exterior colour combinations, with three roof trims and three interior colour schemes; you will have a car that's unique to you. Internally it has Citroën advanced comfort seats, 12 safety and driver assist systems, and full connectivity with the Connect Assist pack.
Gives you a compact SUV with bespoke colour combinations available in 2 trim levels, Shine Plus and Rip Curl. The engine is a 1.2litre 3-cylinder petrol with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Citroën is French to the core and never shy about trying new technologies. The forefront of Aerodynamics with its DS range of cars, and great success in advanced passenger comfort, via its progressive hydraulic system. It has been deliberately nonconformist in designs. However, it has always maintained value-for-money cars and still does so today.
Citroën is a great value brand, and there is no doubt that leasing a Citroën is an excellent choice, offering a high level of technology and engineering for the price.
One of the main advantages of Personal or Business Contract Hire is that it can help you budget more effectively. Your monthly payments are fixed, so you'll always know exactly how much you need to set aside. This can be particularly useful if you're worried about your expenses increasing.
Other benefits of choosing a Contract Hire deal include a low initial payment and the ability to personalise your lease to suit your needs. Plus, with many different Citroën models available on lease, you can get a higher-specification car for your budget.
